Understanding Baseline Pressure Alerts

How Baseline Is Set

When a sensor is first paired to a position, the system records the cold-inflation pressure after the vehicle has been stationary for 4+ hours. This becomes the reference baseline used for all subsequent deviation calculations.

Alert Thresholds

  • Low Pressure Warning — 12.5% below baseline
  • Critical Low Pressure — 25% below baseline
  • High Pressure Warning — 15% above baseline (post-temperature-compensation)
  • Rapid Loss — > 4 PSI drop within any 60-second window

Why Alerts Fire on 'Correctly Inflated' Tires

The most common cause is stale baseline — the tires were re-inflated to a higher pressure but the baseline was not reset. The system is faithfully reporting a deviation from the *recorded* baseline, not the *placard* pressure.

Resetting Baseline

  1. Ensure tires are cold (parked ≥ 4 hours).
  2. In the Fleet Console, open the asset and click Rebaseline All.
  3. Confirm the new reference pressures. The system suppresses alerts for 15 minutes to allow settle-in.
